Deed Abstract

Book:  Union County, South Carolina Deed Abstracts Volume I: Deed Books A-F, 1785-1800 [1752-1800] compiled by Brent H. Holcomb

Deed Book E, Pages 111-113

Date:  11 Feb 1796

James Moorehead and his wife Milly of Rutherford County, North Carolina, to Jonathan Cudd of Union County, SC, for £ 100 prock money, 100 acres on north side Enoree River it being tract granted to Edward Gore Jun'r 17 March 1775, and conveyed by said Edward Gore to said James Moorehead 19 May 1777. James Morehead (Seal), Milly Morehead (X) (Seal), Wit:  John Steen (X), Jean Morehead (X), William Boler. Proved:  Union county by the oath of John Steen 17 Feb 1796 before Nathl Davis, J.P.
Recorded:  1 Jan 1798

I had never been able to prove James' wife name until now.  So Milly is probably Ephraim and Enoch's mother, unless there is another wife that I do not have a record of.  Since Milly is mentioned in the deed, it makes me wonder if she is related to this Edward Gore Junior?

Here is another reference that I think you will find interesting:

According to what I found on the Internet from other postings, our James' ancestral line goes like this:

James Alexander Morehead b. 1751 Clones, Monaghan, Ireland d. 1840 Rutherford Co., NC (came to America from Ireland with Grandfather)
Jacob Moorhead b. 1729 and d. 1758
James Moorhead b. 1710 and Jane b. 1711 (Immigrant)
